Welcome to 7th Grade Science
The class curriculum addresses the transition from the California Science Content Standards to the Next Generation Science Standards.
Science content will be accessed through Prentice Hall’s Focus Life Science textbook and several online sources, including Discovery Education’s Science Techbook. Additional resources will further enrich learning, such as understanding how to think critically and strengthening vocabulary with Latin/ Greek root words, science specific vocabulary, and high-use academic vocabulary.
I. SCIENCE CONTENT The instructors reserve the right to make additions, changes, and deletions to the syllabus during the course of the year as appropriate for student learning.

Please refer to the Lincoln Code of Student Conduct. You will behave in a respectful manner at all times. Reward & Consequence protocols will be followed as described in the Binder Reminder and in class.

First through Fourth = automated voice mail home
Fifth and etc. = Office referral and 30 minutes of school detention

ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE
If you have any questions about coursework or need additional help, I’ll be available before school, starting at 8:00am, during nutrition (as long as you make arrangements to meet me ahead of time), and after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays until about 3:20.
VI. GRADING
Classwork and homework will be checked on a daily basis. Before each test, you will turn in all in-class and out-of-class (homework). Your grade will be calculated by dividing the total number of points you’ve earned by the total number of points possible. Points will come from tests, quizzes, labs, warm-ups and other classwork, and homework.

- Turn in assignments complete and on time.
- All papers will be stored in the “Science” section of a three – ring binder.
- There should be no loose or ‘floating’ papers in your backpack.

- Check The Absent Board for handouts and school business papers you missed.
- At an appropriate time, ask your classmate and/or teacher about missed handouts.
- You must sign up for an after-school appointment on the day you return from an absence to clarify assignments and grading, obtain stamps for completed work, make-up assessments and obtain individualized support.
